n the online survey, L.E.K. Consulting polled 2,000 households in December 2009. 1 in 10 respondents owned an e-reader, and they significantly increased their newspaper, book, and magazine reading in the past year compared to non-e-reader owners, according to a review of the study on MediaWeek.

The study found that heavy e-reader users increased their newspaper consumption nearly 60% in 2009, citing affordability and access to better information. People who don't use e-readers increased their newspaper reading only 7%, according to the study.
